DepEd announces new schedule of national events for March

The Department of Education (DepEd) on Thursday announced the new schedule of its upcoming national events which have previously been affected by the precautionary measures taken in light of the coronavirus diseases 2019 (COVID-19) threat.

In an advisory on Twitter, DepEd said that the National Science and Technology Fair will push through in Quezon City on March 2 to 6, 2020.

The National Festival of Talents, on the other hand, will be held in Ilagan City, Isabela from March 9 to 13.

Tuguegarao City in Cagayan will host the National Schools Press Conference also from March 9 to 13.

The said events were usually held in February.

On Wednesday, the Deped announced that all national, regional, and off-campus activities that were suspended due to the COVID-19 threat may resume starting February 24.

Nevertheless, it has also allowed suspension of classes in schools and areas where there are confirmed COVID-19 cases.

To date, there were only three confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the country and all were Chinese nationals who had recent travel history in China. Two of them recovered while the other died. —LDF, GMA News
