Video shows car theft convict Raymond Dominguez telling NBI he's okay
High-profile inmate Raymond Dominguez is alive and well, contrary to reports that he succumbed to the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), footage taken by National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) inspectors showed on Tuesday.
According to Marisol Abdurahman’s report on “24 Oras,” the NBI inspected Site Harry inside the New Bilibid Prison, which serves as the quarantine facility of the Bureau of Corrections (BuCor).
“BuCor is always cooperating. Pinagbigyan natin sila, dinala natin sila sa site. Of course, following the procedures na established sa isolation area,” spokesman Gabriel Chaclag said.
The NBI inspectors checked the condition of the inmates at the facility, including car theft convict Dominguez.
An undated footage taken of Dominguez by an NBI inspector showed shallow flooding inside the facility.
“Anong kinakain mo dito?” the inspector asked the inmate.
“Okay naman po sir, parehas po ng pagkain ng mga kasama namin,” Dominguez responded.
Dominguez was convicted of carnapping and is facing murder case for the killing of car dealer Venson Evangelista.
Asked how his health was, Dominguez answered: "Okay naman po."
Rumors of his death due to COVID-19 circulated over the weekend but the NBI later belied them.
Meanwhile, four other high-profile inmates are isolated at Site Harry along with Dominguez.
They will undergo a swab test to see if they can come out of isolation.
The BuCor has so far recorded 266 COVID-19 cases among persons deprived of liberty and 97 among personnel. -MDM, GMA News
