Duterte mounts motorcycle; 'Muntik nang di maawat,' says Bong Go

President Rodrigo Duterte's eagerness to ride a motorcycle again manifested Wednesday night when he mounted a parked one, based on photos shared by Senator Christopher "Bong" Go on social media.

"Gusto na talagang mag-motor ni Tatay Digong! Sobrang nami-miss nya ang pag sakay! Muntik nang 'di maawat ng PSG (Presidential Security Group)!" Go, the President's former special assistant, said in a Facebook post.

In the photos, the 75-year-old Duterte is seen wearing a face mask and barong and surrounded by his security personnel while he was on board the motorcycle.

Duterte often said that he used to ride motorcycles a lot when he was mayor of Davao City.

In October last year, Duterte fell off from a motorcycle while inside the Malacañang Complex. He sustained scrapes and bruises, and had to cut short his trip to Japan later because of severe back pain which his doctor said was a case of muscular spasm.

The incident, however, did not stop Duterte from riding motorcycles again.

Last month, speculations about the President's health surfaced again after he mentioned that his doctor told him to stop drinking because his Barrett’s esophagus is nearing stage one cancer.

Malacañang said Duterte was talking about "a medical advice that happened many years ago, even prior to the presidency."

The President is "fit and healthy for a person his age," according to his spokesperson Harry Roque. —KBK, GMA News
