More than 500 people, 400 rolling cargoes stranded due to Quinta, says PCG

The Philippine Coast Guard on Monday said more than 500 people and 400 rolling cargoes were stranded in various ports due to Typhoon Quinta.

As of 12 noon, the following were stranded in Southern Tagalog, Bicol and Eastern Visayas regions, according to PCG:

  • 577 passengers, truck drivers and cargo helpers
  • 473 rolling cargoes
  • 21 vessels
  • 10 motor bancas

 

 

 

 

A total of 121 vessels and 51 motor bancas meanwhile took shelter as a precautionary measure.

The PCG said its command center is monitoring the situation 24/7 to strictly implement guidelines regarding sea travel amid the bad weather.

Quinta caused flooding in many areas as it traversed the Luzon landmass on Monday.

It is expected to exit the Philippine Area of Responsibility on Tuesday morning. --KG, GMA News
