Quiapo Church to hold 11 Masses for Black Nazarene Feast 2021

The Quiapo Church is set to hold 11 Masses for the Feast of the Black Nazarene this Saturday, January 9.

In a report, Super Radyo dzBB's Isa Avendaño-Umali said other churches were also selected to hold Masses for the feast, including the Sta. Cruz Parish and San Sebastian Church, which will accommodate only one-third of their capacity.

Based on the IATF guidelines, only 400 devotees per Mass will be allowed in Quiapo Church, and only 6,000 devotees will be allowed to fall in line.

Those who will be unable to enter Quiapo Church are encouraged instead to attend Masses in other churches.

The line will start one hour before the first Mass on Saturday at 4 a.m. following the 12 a.m. to 3 a.m. curfew in Manila.

Portalets will be set up around the church.

Authorities are mulling not to cut cellular signals during the festivity, as the Traslacion or the annual grand procession of the life-sized image of the Black Nazarene was cancelled due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Manila Police District director Police Brigadier General Leo Francisco meanwhile urged devotees not to bring bags that are not transparent.

Around 7,000 police and security forces will be deployed for the celebration, the MPD said.

The local government of Manila earlier released the road closures, rerouting, and parking plan to be implemented from Friday, January 8, to Saturday, January 9, for the celebration of the Feast of the Black Nazarene.—AOL, GMA News
