Philippine Red Cross breaks ground on Albay shelter assistance project
The Philippine Red Cross (PRC) on Friday broke ground on an Albay shelter assistance project aimed at families who lost their homes when Super Typhoon Rolly ravaged the province late last year.
“We’re building 167 homes for 167 families,” PRC Chairman Senator Richard Gordon said during the ceremony.
The families are from Guinobatan and Daraga, Gordon added.
The project is being undertaken by the PRC, the Korean government, the International Federation of Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, and the Canadian Red Cross.
Gordon said the P38.2-million project would build homes that can withstand winds of up to 140 kilometers per hour winds.
