Sara Duterte to Pinoys: We must protect Bongbong Marcos

BULACAN —Vice presidential candidate and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte urged Filipinos to protect her running mate, Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr., who is facing disqualification petitions before the Commission on Elections (Comelec) and an alleged assassination try.

At the proclamation rally of the BBM-Sara UniTeam on Tuesday, Duterte mentioned why she chose Marcos as her running mate and why the latter should win in the May 2022 elections.

Duterte said Marcos already has the experience as he already served as local government official and legislator.  She said her tandem with Marcos is endowed with wisdom and experience.

“Dahil naniniwala ako sa kakayahan niya na mamuno bilang pangulo. Napatunayan na ito ng kaniyang malawak na karanasan bilang local chief executive at bilang legislator,” Duterte said.

“The kind of experience we need not only to sustain the growth and development spurred by the current administration, but also to bring a more prosperous future. We must protect President Bongbong Marcos,” she added.

On Monday, the Comelec said there is still no information on the promulgation of the decision on the disqualification cases filed against Marcos.

Last month, the Department of Justice said it has received an online tip about an alleged plot to kill Marcos.  The police is looking into the matter.

Meanwhile, Duterte said she also has the experience and skills to serve as she takes pride in Davao City, saying that it is the fourth most competitive city in the country.

"Wala kaming utang, Davao City is debt-free. We have been awarded the best city police office with no human rights complaint and we brought down the decades-long guerilla movement in Paquibato district in four years," Duterte said.

In her message, Duterte also thanked her family as she mentioned her father, President Rodrigo Duterte.

“President Rodrigo Duterte, thank you for showing us the way,” Duterte said.

Duterte said her public service is anchored on what she learned from her parents, especially the fair and equal treatment to other people.

"Sa aking paglilingkod, ginagawa ko ang natutunan ko mula sa aking mga magulang. Dapat pantay-pantay ang lahat. Walang mayaman, walang mahirap. Walang babae, walang lalaki. Walang bata, walang matanda," Duterte said.

"Lahat tayo ay Pilipino. Mas madaling magkaisa kung lahat tayo ay pantay-pantay ang pagtingin at pagtrato sa isa't isa," she added.—LDF, GMA News
