With less than a month left before the 2022 elections, are you ready to cast your votes?
Before anything else, it's important to equip yourselves with basic information that will be useful as you shade your ballots.
In the latest installment of #EleksyonSerye Voter's Education Series, TikTok star Ychan Laurenz recently quizzed random citizens about Philippine politics and elections.
Here are the questions and answers to help you review your knowledge on the upcoming polls.
How long is the term of the Philippine president?
Six years
How much is the salary of the Philippine president?
Salary grade 33 or P411,382 per month
How long are the terms of a mayor and a vice mayor?
Three years. They can be elected for up to three consecutive terms.
What is the job of a senator?
One of their main duties is to create laws for Filipinos.
What does a party-list do?
They create bills, joint resolutions, concurrent resolutions, and simple resolutions that reflect their sector or party's interest/s.
What does a Sangguniang Panlalawigan or provincial board member do?
They contribute to making and approving bills and ordinances that would benefit the people.
When is the national and local election?
May 9, 2022
How many senators can a person vote for?
The maximum number of senators to vote for is 12.
How many party-lists can a voter choose?
Out of 178 party lists, a voter can choose only one.
Can you bring a kodigo inside the polling precinct?
Yes. You may generate your own through GMA News Online's Eleksyon 2022 website.
Can you bring home the receipt of your votes?
No, it should be dropped at the voter's receipt receptacle. You may be jailed if you take it home.
If you have a fever on election day, can you still vote?
Yes. Voters who will register a body temperature of 37.5 degrees Celsius and above will be checked by a medical officer. If it is assessed that they have fever, they will be redirected to an isolation polling place (IPP), where they can cast their votes.
