Robin Padilla leads Senate race in initial, official Comelec tally


Actor Robin Padilla is leading the Senate race based on the initial and official canvassing results released by the National Board of Canvassers on Wednesday morning.

Sitting as the NBOC, the Commission on Elections canvassed the votes for senators and party-list groups coming from the provinces of Abra, Apayao, Benguet, Ifugao, Kalinga, Mountain Province, Baguio City, and Malabon starting Tuesday night.

The NBOC resumed the canvassing of votes past 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

The following are the Top 12 senatoriables based on the NBOC’s National Tally Sheet Report Number 1, released on May 11, 2022 at 3:27 a.m., for the Certificates of Canvass for the said provinces and city:

  • Padilla, Robin – 612,684
  • Tulfo, Raffy – 521,381
  • Legarda, Loren – 492,504
  • Villar, Mark – 427,025
  • Gatchalian, Sherwin – 424,797
  • Escudero, Chiz – 378, 428
  • Cayetano, Allan Peter – 369,589
  • Villanueva, Joel – 358,280
  • Estrada, Jinggoy – 336,498
  • Ejercito, JV —332,936
  • Zubiri, Juan Miguel – 319,858
  • Binay, Jojo -  284, 124

Padilla specifically kept a firm grip in the Cordillera provinces with 514,958 votes, followed by Tulfo (416,290), Legarda (383,673), Villar (341,471), Gatchalian (304,217), Cayetano (288,006), Escudero (285,882), Estrada (282,566), Villanueva (268,960), Ejercito (266,798), Zubiri (252,219), and Binay (239,940).

Meanwhile, Gatchalian came first in Malabon City with 120,580 votes, followed by Legarda (108,831), Tulfo (105,091), Padilla (97,726), Villanueva (89,320), Villar (85,554), Cayetano (81,583), Herbert Bautista (69,565), Risa Hontiveros (68,765), Zubiri (67,639), Ejercito (66,138), and Escudero (92,546).

As of this posting, the Certificates of Canvass from San Juan, Las Piñas, Catanduanes, Romblon, Zambales, Korea, Malaysia, Batanes, Romblon, Zambales, Nueva Vizcaya, Ilocos Sur, Camiguin, Kalinga, Siquijor, Biliran, Malabon, Pasig, Marinduque, Valenzuela, Tarlac, Guimaras, Marikina, Dinagat Islands, Benguet, Isabela, Ilocos Norte, Oriental Mindoro, Baguio City, Ifugao, La Union, Occidental Mindoro, Aurora, Parañaque, Iligan City, Navotas, Aklan, Lanao del Norte, Sorsogon, Sarangani, Bukidnon, Misamis Occidental, Rizal, Southern Leyte, Abra, Pasay City have already been canvassed.

For the overseas voting, COCs from Singapore, Lebanon, Oman, Brunei, Agana, Thailand, and Athens, Taiwan, Bahrain have also been canvassed.

Comelec Commissioner Marlon Casquejo on Tuesday said that the poll body expects to proclaim winning senators and party-list groups this week

The votes canvassed by the NBOC are considered as the partial and official results of this year’s elections.

The NBOC said Tuesday that the poll body will create a sub-canvassing body for party-list groups. — RSJ, GMA News
