NCR COVID-19 positivity rate dips to 22% —OCTA

The COVID-19 positivity rate in the National Capital Region (NCR) continued to decrease last week, hitting 22% as of Saturday, according to independent monitoring group OCTA Research on Monday.

OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David showed data that NCR’s seven-day testing positivity rate—or the percentage of people who were found positive for COVID-19 among the total number of individuals tested—went down from 25.7% on May 20, to 22% on May 27.

Positivity rates likewise dipped in Batangas, Bulacan, Camarines Sur, Cavite, Isabela, Laguna, Rizal, and Zambales.

However, David emphasized that positivity rates remained “high” in most provinces in Luzon, with those in Oriental Mindoro reaching 55.6% on May 27, from the previous 33.3%.

Bataan, Benguet, Cagayan, La Union, Palawan, Pampanga, Pangasinan, Quezon, and Tarlac’s positivity rates also increased over the past week.

The entire Philippines registered 1,855 new COVID-19 cases on Sunday, the 25th straight day of more than 1,000 new daily cases. With this, the active caseload stood at 16,002. .
