Sotto: No changes in VP Sara's impeachment case sans SC decision on MR
There will be no changes in the archived impeachment case against Vice President Sara Duterte pending the Supreme Court’s decision on the motions for reconsideration, newly elected Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said Monday.
Sotto, who just recently replaced Senator Francis “Chiz” Escudero as head of the upper chamber, said that they are still awaiting the SC’s decision on the motions to reverse its decision junking the impeachment case against Duterte.
“Wala pa, walang gagalawin do’n until malaman natin kung anong sinasabi ng Supreme Court,” Sotto said in an ambush interview.
(There are no changes. We will not do anything with it until we know the decision of the Supreme Court.)

In August, the Senate—then under Escudero’s leadership—voted to transfer to the archives the articles of impeachment against Duterte, following the SC decision to declare her impeachment unconstitutional.
Back then, Sotto, who was still the Senate minority leader, argued that the Senate should wait for the decision of the high court on the motion for reconsideration that the Office of the Solicitor General had filed on behalf of the House of Representatives.
