Sotto: LEDAC to ensure policies for people’s urgent needs

Senate President Vicente “Tito” Sotto III said that the first full meeting of the Legislative-Executive Development Advisory Council (LEDAC) for the 20th Congress was geared towards policies that will be responsive to the urgent needs of Filipinos.

Sotto, as well as Senate Majority Leader Juan Miguel “Migz” Zubiri and Senate finance committee chairman Sherwin Gatchalian, attended the LEDAC meeting on Tuesday at Malacañang, presided over by President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.

According to the Senate chief’s office, the meeting tackled the alignment of priority bills of the Executive and the Congress, and the adoption of the common legislative agenda presented by Department of Economy, Planning, and Development (DEPDev) Secretary Arsenio Balisacan.

The officials likewise discussed improving healthcare and education, promoting inclusive agriculture and livelihood, strengthening the energy sector, and pursuing governance, digital, and financial reforms “to spur economic growth and deliver efficient public service.”

“These priorities reflect our collective effort to ensure that policies are both responsive to the immediate needs of the people and consistent with our long-term development goals,” Sotto said in a statement. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
