LIST: Recommended vaccines for adult patients
The Department of Health (DOH) and health experts continue their call for better immunization programs in the country amid possible health risks.
This is as the DOH has issued an advisory calling for the public to undergo immunization to prevent vaccine-preventable diseases and stated that some vaccines are offered for free at health centers.
In line with that, here's a full list of recommended vaccines for adults by the World Health Organization (WHO):
Hepatitis B – 3 doses for high-risk groups not previously immunized as children
Rubella – 1 dose for women of reproductive age not previously immunized
Seasonal Influenza – 1 dose with annual revaccination
Varicella – 2 doses
For specific regions at risk
Tick-Borne Encephelitis - 3 doses with at least 1 booster dose every 3 years
For High-Risk Populations
Typhoid – 1 dose of Typhoid conjugate vaccine (Typbar-TCV®), 1 dose of Vi polysaccharide (ViPS), and 3 to 4 doses of Ty21a live oral vaccine with ViPS and Ty21a revaccinations every 3 to 7 years
Cholera – 2 doses of Dukoral (WC-rBS) with boosters every 2 years, and 2 doses of Shanchol, Euvchol, and mORCVAX with a booster dose after 2 years
Meningococcal (MenC Conjugate) – 1 dose
Hepatitis A – 1 or 2 doses for patients below 40 years of age or 2 doses if above 40 years old (if inactive vaccine), 1 dose (if live attenuated vaccine)
DOH, meanwhile, reminded the public that doctor’s recommendations remain the best course of action for scheduling and receiving these vaccinations. —VAL, GMA News
