Bato dela Rosa arrives at Senate
Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa arrived at the Senate Monday afternoon to attend the plenary session.
It was the first time Dela Rosa went to the Senate since November 11, 2025.
Dela Rosa was emotional on the floor saying that members of the National Bureau of Investigation tried to block him from entering the Senate premises.
GMA News Online reached out to the NBI for comment on the matter.
Based on the Senate attendance sheet, Dela Rosa missed 31 plenary sessions.
CCTV footage showed dela Rosa rushing to the Senate plenary hall on Monday at around 3:13 p.m. to evade arrest from waiting NBI agents in civilian attire.
Senator Joel Villanueva raised a motion citing the involved NBI agents in contempt and be placed under Senate custody. It was granted by the Senate majority.
"The Jane Does and John Does are held in contempt. I am directing the (Office of the Sergeant-at-Arms) to put in Senate custody the said individuals and to detain them in the Senate premises," Cayetano added.
"If they need assistance, you're authorize to coordinate with the Pasay City PNP until such time those held in contempt can purge themselves, meaning to satisfy us with their explanation," he said.
The Senate premises was placed on lockdown pending the identification of the supposed NBI agents.
Senators later voted to cite the NBI personnel in contempt and place them under the custody of the Senate.
A stand-off erupted between the NBI and the members of the OSAA after the NBI agents cited in contempt tried to leave the chamber. —AOL/RF, GMA News
