Bato dela Rosa rode Pia Cayetano's vehicle when he appeared at Senate —Lacson

Senator Panfilo "Ping" Lacson on Wednesday said the Cayetano siblings may be the only senators who were aware that Senator Ronald "Bato" dela Rosa would arrive at the Senate on Monday.

Lacson said Dela Rosa reportedly rode the vehicle of Senator Pia Cayetano when he appeared at the chamber after six months of absence . He alighted the vehicle after the Senate opened the session.

"Ang pagkakaalam ko, at the very least, dalawa lang ang nakakaalam tungkol kay Sen. Bato na darating. Ang alam ko nakasakay si Bato sa sasakyan ni Sen. Pia," Lacson told Super Radyo dzBB .

(As far as I know, only two senators were aware that Sen. Dela Rosa will arrive. He rode the vehicle of Sen. Pia.)

"Walang nakakaalam sa amin. Probably, even sa bagong majority, hindi lahat sila alam na dadating si Bato. Security consideration ni Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano," he said.

(No one was aware. Probably, even the new majority was unaware. That is based on the security consideration of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano.)

In an interview with Balitanghali, Dela Rosa said only Alan Peter Cayetano was aware that he would arrive. He also said he did not know who owned the vehicle he rode going to the Senate.

GMA News Online reached out to the office of Senator Pia Cayetano for comment and will publish it once available.

On Monday, Dela Rosa appeared at the Senate for the first time after disappearing from public eye for six months amid claims that the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued a warrant of arrest against him. His attendance completed the 13 votes to oust then-Senate President Vicente "Tito" Sotto III and installed Alan Peter Cayetano.

Senator Loren Legarda was named Senate President Pro-Tempore.

An emotional Dela Rosa arrived at the session hall, showing injured fingers. He said he "wrestled" with the agents of the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI), who allegedly blocked him from entering the Senate.

A CCTV footage showed the senator dashing towards the session hall to evade arrest from NBI agents, who were wearing civilian clothes.

According to NBI Director Melvin Matibag, two female agents were about to serve Dela Rosa the ICC warrant. He also denied the senator was tackled.

Dela Rosa, who is under the Senate protective custody, currently remains in the chamber. He said he would remain in the chamber's premises while waiting for the Supreme Court (SC) decision on the temporary restraining order (TRO) against the implementation of the ICC warrant of arrest.

Five senators filed a resolution asking him to voluntarily surrender to authorities amid an ICC arrest warrant against him over his links to the controversial drug war. Dela Rosa rejected the call. —AOL, GMA News
