Gov't vows lawful enforcement of arrest warrant vs Bato dela Rosa — Malacañang
Malacañang on Thursday committed that the government will act in accordance with existing laws in enforcing the warrant of arrest against Senator Ronald “Bato” Dela Rosa.
Palace Press Officer Undersecretary Claire Castro said this after Justice Secretary Fredderick Vida announced that the Philippine National Police (PNP) and the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) have been directed to arrest Dela Rosa.
“Maliwanag ang sinabi ng DOJ na enforceable ang warrant of arrest laban kay Sen. Bato,” Castro said in a message to reporters.
(The DOJ clearly stated that the arrest warrant against Sen. Bato is enforceable.)
“Karampatang aksyon ng naaayon sa batas ang maaasahan mula sa gobyerno. Lahat ay gagawin ng ating mga opisyal para maibigay ang hustisya sa lahat,” she added.
(You can expect appropriate action in accordance with the law from the government. Our officials will do everything to provide justice to all.)
The Supreme Court earlier denied Dela Rosa's request for a temporary restraining order (TRO) and/or status quo ante order (SQAO) in connection with his possible arrest based on the warrant issued by the International Criminal Court (ICC).
While the senator’s legal team respected the SC’s decision, it argued that the country’s own constitution must prevail. The lawyers also said they will file a motion for reconsideration. — RSJ, GMA News
