DICT: eGovPH app optimization ongoing as downloads hit 51M
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) said Monday that optimization efforts for the eGovPH app are ongoing as downloads have reached 51 million.
“Nasa 51 million downloads na tayo ngayon. So nag-surge ulit ang paggamit. Siguro dahil mahal ang gasolina,” said DICT Undersecretary David Almirol Jr. in Bagong Pilipinas Ngayon.
(We are now at 51 million downloads. Usage has surged again, possibly because fuel is expensive.)
Almirol said optimization efforts are continuous to improve system performance and guide agencies in streamlining their operations.
“The optimization we are doing is continuous. We are making systems lighter and guiding agencies on how to make their operations more efficient,” he said.
The DICT earlier reported that the surge in users caused temporary disruptions in some app services.
The agency also said it is seeking additional funding for cloud server capacity and is coordinating with the Department of Budget and Management (DBM).
“We are coordinating with the DBM. We are preparing documentation for additional funding, especially for cloud services, and for the possible transfer of responsibility to other agencies,” Almirol said.
“As of now, 95% of the cloud services we are paying for are going to other agencies,” he added.
Meanwhile, several new features have been rolled out in the eGovPH app, including resume creation, AI-powered job matching, and access to birth certificates.
Users can also skip queues when applying for National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) clearance.
"Once you’ve created your resume in eGov, the eGov AI will handle job matching. The birth certificate feature has also been activated," he said.
"The NBI clearance has also been activated—I got it within minutes. The OFW One-Stop Shop is also there, as well as MARINA services for seafarers," Almirol added.—MCG, GMA News
