Another member of the Cayetano family is making headlines after Malacañang formally announced on Wednesday the appointment of Lino Cayetano as the new general manager of state-run People's Television Network (PTV).

Lino Edgardo Cayetano is a former lawmaker who served as representative of Taguig City's 2nd District from 2013 to 2016.

He was later elected mayor of Taguig City and served from 2019 to 2022.

Lino is the younger brother of Senate President Alan Peter Cayetano and Senator Pia Cayetano.

He is also known for donating part of his liver to his late father, former senator Rene Cayetano.

According to the Presidential Communications Office (PCO), Lino brings extensive experience in media and creative leadership in addition to his years in public service.

He earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Mass Communication from the University of the Philippines and obtained a diploma in film from the New York Film Academy in 1999.

Lino directed primetime programs for the country's three major television networks and spent more than a decade at ABS-CBN as a director and creative consultant.

He is also the co-founder of Rein Entertainment, where he currently serves as producer and director.

PCO Acting Secretary Dave Gomez said Lino's appointment would bring valuable experience from the media, private, and public sectors to the state broadcaster.

“With his appointment, Lino Cayetano brings with him a rare wealth of experience from the media, private, and public sectors that would certainly take PTV-4 to greater heights in our ever-evolving multimedia landscape,” Gomez said.
