NCRPO mobilizes nearly 10,000 police officers for White Ribbon March
The National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO) said Saturday that it would deploy nearly 10,000 personnel to ensure public safety and security during the White Ribbon March on Sunday.
"Full security is now in effect. With 9,602 NCRPO personnel strategically deployed across Metro Manila, a comprehensive security framework has been activated to preserve public order, safeguard every participant, and ensure the orderly conduct of the White Ribbon Movement," the NCRPO said in a statement.
Organized by religious and civil society groups advocating electoral reforms and greater government accountability, the White Ribbon March will be held at the EDSA People Power Monument in Quezon City.
The initiative, led by the Interreligious Leaders Council for National Transformation (IRCNT), aims to mobilize public support against corruption and political dynasties while pushing for reforms to the country's political system.
The march is expected to coincide with similar activities in other parts of the country.
Politicians, regardless of political affiliation, may join the march but will not be allowed to speak during the program, Kidapawan Bishop Colin Bagaforo of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of the Philippines (CBCP) Episcopal Commission on Interreligious Dialogue had said. — VBL, GMA News
