Mao Aplasca 'dismissed from service' —Ombudsman Remulla

Mao Aplasca has been dismissed from service, Ombudsman Jesus Crispin Remulla said Saturday.

"Noong Monday napirmahan ko na 'yung dismissal ni Mao Aplasca from the service… Acting Sergeant at Arms ng Senate at Sergeant at Arms ng Commission on Appointments, dinismiss na namin from the service,” Remulla said in a radio interview.

(On Monday, I signed the dismissal of Mao Aplasca from the service… Acting Sergeant at Arms of the Senate, and Sergeant at Arms of the Commission on Appointments, we have dismissed him from the service.)

“Ilalabas namin ang desisyon para makita ng tao dahil mahirap na magpaliwanag, basta ipu-publish namin,” he added.

(We will release the decision for people to see because it is difficult to explain, we will just publish it.)

GMA News Online has sought Aplasca for comment, but he has yet to reply as of posting time.

To recall, Aplasca fired several warning shots at the Senate's glass windows last May 13, causing panic among those who were still within the Senate premises at that time.

Following this, the Ombudsman placed Aplasca under preventive suspension for six months without pay over discharging his firearm. —VAL, GMA News
