Michael Logico named new PMA superintendent

Lieutenant General Michael Logico has assumed as the 86th Superintendent of the Philippine Military Academy (PMA), succeeding Vice Admiral Caesar Bernard Valencia, the Armed Forces of the Philippines (AFP) said Thursday.

In a statement, the AFP said military chief General Antonio Nafarrete presided over the PMA change of command and retirement ceremony at Fort General Gregorio H. del Pilar in Baguio City on Wednesday.

Logico, a member of the PMA “Maalab” Class of 1993, previously served as commander of the Philippine Army Training and Doctrine Command (TRADOC).

According to the AFP, Logico also held key leadership positions involving military training, doctrine development, joint exercises, and special operations.

In his remarks, Nafarrete underscored the PMA’s role in developing future military leaders.

“The future of the Armed Forces begins within these halls. Therefore, every lesson taught, every standard enforced, and the values instilled will shape the leaders who will command our units, protect our sovereignty, and uphold the trust of the Filipino people.”

Nafarrete also expressed confidence that Logico would continue the academy’s mission of producing competent and principled military officers.

“Under Lieutenant General Logico’s leadership, the PMA will continue to produce officers of character, competence, and unwavering commitment to the nation.”

The PMA is the country’s premier military academy and the primary institution responsible for training future officers of the Armed Forces of the Philippines. — RSJ, GMA News
