51 OFWs, 23 dependents repatriated from Dubai return to PH

A total of 51 Overseas Filipino Workers (OFWs) and 23 dependents who were repatriated from Dubai in the United Arab Emirates, have safely arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport Terminal 3, the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) reported Sunday.

The OFWs and their dependents returned to the country on Saturday via Emirates Flight EK334.

They were repatriated due to various personal and employment-related concerns that required immediate intervention and assistance from the government.

The returnees were welcomed and assisted by the OWWA and Department of Migrant Workers personnel.

Through the Alagang OWWA, the returning Filipinos also received food, financial assistance, transportation assistance, and temporary accommodations.

Meanwhile, the OWWA Regional Welfare Offices will continue to provide reintegration programs, livelihood assistance, employment facilitation, counseling, and other interventions to the returning OFWs.

With growing prospects of easing tensions between Iran and US-Israeli forces, Filipino-owned businesses in Dubai should be able to bounce back with action plans, according to the Philippine Business Council — Dubai and the Northern Emirates (PBC-DNE).

Filipino-owned businesses in the area suffered losses during the height of the regional conflict. Supply chain disruptions became the main challenge, making it important for businesses to maintain cash flow and revenue to continue their operations.

"Cash is king. Develop a cash forecast, build a six- to 12-month fund for operating expenses, accelerate collection and slow down on payables," said Dr. Ben Lebig Jr., a registered financial planner who works in the UAE's oil and gas sector. —Mariel Celine Serquiña/RF, GMA News
