Palace orders work-from-home for gov't employees in 3 provinces

Government employees in Zambales, Bataan, and Occidental Mindoro will shift to a work-from-home arrangement on Tuesday, August 11, 2026 amid continued heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.

The directive was issued through Memorandum Circular No. 124, signed by the Office of the President upon the recommendation of the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC).

Under the circular, government offices in the three provinces will implement work-from-home arrangements on August 11.

Public and private schools in the affected areas will also implement alternative learning modes for classes at all levels, unless their respective local chief executives issue a different directive.

Agencies responsible for basic and health services, disaster and calamity preparedness and response, and other vital services are exempted from the work-from-home arrangement and are directed to continue operating and providing necessary services.

The circular also allows local chief executives in other areas to order the localized cancellation or suspension of classes and work in government offices, in accordance with existing laws, rules and regulations.

Meanwhile, the suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in private companies and offices will remain at the discretion of their respective heads. —LDF, GMA News
