Palace: Gov't offices to shift to alternative work setup on Aug. 18 amid bad weather
Malacañang on Monday directed government offices in the National Capital Region (NCR) and several other provinces to implement alternative work arrangements on Tuesday, August 18, amid heavy rainfall brought by the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat.
Memorandum Circular No. 128 covers government offices in the following areas:
- Ilocos Sur
- La Union
- Pangasinan
- Benguet
- Zambales
- Bataan
- Tarlac
- Pampanga
- Bulacan
- Cavite
- Batangas
- Rizal
- Laguna
- Occidental Mindoro
“Unless otherwise directed by their respective local chief executives, alternative learning modes for classes at all levels in public and private schools shall be implemented in the aforementioned areas,” the circular noted.
However, government agencies providing basic and health services, as well as disaster response and other vital services, shall continue their operations.
The cancellation or suspension of classes and government work in areas not covered by the circular may also be implemented by their respective local chief executives.
Meanwhile, the suspension of work or adoption of alternative work arrangements in the private sector shall be left to the discretion of management.— MCG, GMA News
