Marcos says FL Liza’s birthday the ‘most important day in calendar’

President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Friday greeted his wife, First Lady Louise “Liza” Araneta-Marcos, on her birthday, which he described as the “most important day in the calendar.”

The First Lady turned 67 today.

“My dear Liza, we're celebrating today a most important day in the calendar; Liza Day!” the President said in a social media post.

“Happy Birthday to the First Lady of every day of my life... and beyond,” he added.

Liza Marcos recently received public criticism following her announcement that she would go on a “birthday sabbatical”—a post made while parts of the country were suffering from floods due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon (Habagat).

Palace Press Officer Usec. Claire Castro said they understand if some were disappointed with the timing or the way the First Lady’s post was written, noting that people have the right to their own opinion.

In the selfie post of Liza Marcos on Monday, August 17, she said she was excited to start her weeklong birthday sabbatical, and that she will be back at work next Monday, August 24.

She also wrote in the caption that while on birthday break, she would enjoy “no makeup, no hairspray, no terno, no heels, no speeches, no official photos, no meetings, no schedule, no stress.”—AOL, GMA News
