P6.614-B infra and agri losses caused by Habagat, 3 tropical cyclones - NDRRMC
An estimated P6.614 billion in damages to infrastructure and agriculture and while over six million persons were affected s a result of the combined effects of the Southwest Monsoon or Habagat, and the recent tropical cyclones Luis, Maymay, and Neneng, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said on Sunday.
According to its situation report on August 23, the estimated cost of damaged infrastructure is P4,887,870,851.63 while that of agriculture stands at P1,726,292,918.05.
There are currently 2,324 damaged houses and 1,104 damaged infrastructure.
The cost of damage to livestock, poultry and fisheries is at P24,085,755.
A total of 89 cities and municipalities have declared a state of calamity.
The weather disturbances have affected 50,023 farmers and fisherfolk.
Meanwhile, the NDRRMC said 6,913,577 persons or 2,015,897 families affected by the multiple weather disturbances.
The affected individuals are located in the Ilocos Region, Cagayan Valley, Cordillera Administrative Region, Central Luzon, National Capital Region, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, Bicol Region, Western Visayas, and Zamboanga Peninsula.
Meanwhile, 29 deaths were reported, of which, five have been confirmed.
There are also 17 individuals injured. Eleven were confirmed while six others are still being validated.
Reports of two individuals missing are being validated.
Moreover, 105,523 persons were displaced by the inclement weather. Of which, 42,422 individuals sought temporary shelter inside evacuation centers and 63,101 others were outside of evacuation centers.
The NDRRMC also reported 2,324 damaged houses in Ilocos Region, CAR, Central Luzon, CALABARZON, MIMAROPA, and Western Visayas. Of this number, 2,058 are partially damaged while 266 others are totally damaged.
Meanwhile, the Department of Social Welfare and Development has distributed over P1 billion worth of humanitarian assistance to affected individuals affected by harsh weather conditions. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA News
