Expecting rains, Super El Niño: University student leaders in Cebu initiate umbrella-borrowing program
The student government of Southwestern University PHINMA in Cebu City, to make sure that each student and member of the community is kept dry during rainy days and shielded during warm weather, has introduced an umbrella sharing program.
"Rainy days are made a little easier with U-Payong. The SWU SSG (Supreme Student Government) introduces this umbrella borrowing initiative to provide convenience and protection to students and members of the university community," according to the group's statement posted on social media.
"We encourage everyone to borrow responsibly, share when possible, and return the umbrellas after use so that this initiative may continue to serve our community," they added.
The initiative, the group said, provides students with accessible umbrellas for use while moving between areas of the University during rainy season, and in preparation for the coming Super El Niño.
There are designated U-payong stations different areas in the campus and users are reminded to return the umbrellas.
Also, the student government also asked for the cooperation of the University community to "help maintain the availability of U-Payong through responsible borrowing, sharing, and returning. Together, we can keep this service accessible to students who are here, and students who come after." — BAP, GMA News
