Stove burner left on during quake blamed for GenSan mall fire
The fire that broke out at Gaisano Mall in General Santos City following the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that hit Mindanao on Wednesday may have started from its food court.
According to a report by GMA stringer Garry Balantay on Unang Balita, some staff of the mall said that a cook accidentally left the stove burner on after the earthquake sent them running out of the building.
As of 6:59 a.m., General Alarm is up and firefighters were still trying to put out the fire which mainly affected the second and third floors of the mall.
Authorities were being extra careful in the operation because a part of the establishment's wall was seen as likely to collapse.
There were no reported casualties yet in the fire which started at around 8:30 p.m. on Wednesday. —Dona Magsino/KBK, GMA News
