Number of injured due to Mindanao earthquake rises to 167 —NDRRMC


The number of those who got injured due to the magnitude 6.3 earthquake that struck Mindanao on Wednesday evening rose to 167 from the previously reported 93, according to the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) on Saturday afternoon.

Of this number, 95 were in Region XI while 72 were in Region XII.

The number of fatalities stood at six as of 5 p.m. Saturday.

The magnitude 6.3 earthquake that had its epicenter in Makilala, Cotabato occurred at 7:37 p.m. on Wednesday night.

The NDRRMC said 611 aftershocks have been recorded since then up to Saturday. Of this number, 302 were plotted and 26 were felt ranging from magnitude 1.5 to 5.5 and Intensity II to V.

The government agency also reported an increase in the number of families affected, from the 1,653 families (8,265 people) reported Saturday morning to 3,879 families or 19,395 people as of Saturday afternoon.

Fifty-eight families or 352 people are staying in four evacuation centers while 572 families or 2,798 people are staying outside evacuation centers.

A total of 2,512 infrastructure in Regions XI, XII and Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao have been damaged.

This number is broken down into:

  • houses: 1,997
  • schools: 354
  • health facilities: 30
  • other public structures: 103
  • places of worship: 8
  • private/commercial establishments: 9
  • roads and bridges: 11

 

The Department of Social Welfare and Development has prepared stockpiles consisting of 326,864 family food packs amounting to P125,739,187.01 and food and non-food items amounting to P727,284,808.02. —KG, GMA News
