Residents in Tisoy's path evacuate ahead of heavy rains

Local government units in Typhoon Tisoy's path evacuated residents and prepared food items on Tuesday.

In San Juan, Batangas, 552 residents have been evacuated so far as of the report of GMA News' John Consulta on Unang Balita.

As of 7 a.m. on Tuesday, the town was experiencing heavy rains and strong winds, and evacuation was still ongoing.

PAGASA said Tisoy's eyewall will affect Cavite, Batangas and the northern portion of Mindoro provinces on Tuesday morning. Tisoy will make landfall or pass close to Marinduque-Simara Island-Banton Island before noon.

The LGU conducted preemptive evacuation in coastal barangays on Monday night such as in Barangays Catmon, Ticalan, Poblacion, Calubcub 2, Palingowak, Laiya Aplaya and Balabag.

These areas are at risk for storm surge.

San Juan Mayor Ilde Brando Salud said authorities went around overnight to oversee the evacuation and prepare food items for evacuees.

The LGU also put on standby quick response teams and heavy equipment.

The Batangas Electric Cooperative (BATELEC) also advised residents to prepare for power interruptions.
