Families left with typhoon-wrecked houses will get up to P10k —DHSUD


Families whose houses were destroyed by the super Typhoon Rolly will receive up to P10,000 cash assistance from the government, the Department of Human Settlements and Urban Development said.

Interviewed on Dobol B sa News TV on Sunday, DHSUD Secretary Eduardo del Rosario said the National Housing Authority (NHA) and Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) will lead the distribution of cash aid.

“Magbibigay tayo ng P5,000 para sa mga partially damaged, at P10,000 na tulong sa mga totally damaged na houses,” Del Rosario said.

“Ang NHA at DSWD, meron itong pondo na nakalaan, pondo para sa immediate financial assistance na puwedeng ibigay sa mga kababayan natin na ang kanilang mga bahay ay naapektuhan,” he added.

The cash assistance program targets to help the victims in most affected regions: Bicol, Calabarzon, and Mimaropa, according to Del Rosario.

He said the assistance will be distributed to affected residents by Wednesday.

On Saturday, the Office of Civil Defense-Region V said the death toll in the Bicol Region due Rolly climbed to 21 of which 13 were from Albay, two from Camarines Sur, and six from Catanduanes.

A total of 292,728 houses were damaged, including 238,214 that were partially damaged, and 54,514 that were totally damaged, OCD added. —LBG, GMA News
