After Typhoon Auring, 8000 families in Surigao del Sur receive relief packs from Kapuso Foundation
A total of 8,000 families from Surigao del Sur received relief packs from the Kapuso Foundation after the devastation caused by Typhoon Auring in February.
Among the beneficiaries are 1,000 residents from San Agustin, including Floreta Cacho, 67, who lost her home of 40 years.
"Masakit na masakit. Ang lahat ng pinundar naming mag-asawa, dinala lahat ng malakas na tubig," she said in Wednesday's episode of "24 Oras."
Since her husband died in 2016, she has been living alone. She finances her needs from the P20 to P100 income she gets from massaging customers daily.
"Dinadalangin ko na sana bigyan po ako ng malakas na pangangatawan," she said.
Thankfully, a concerned citizen welcomed her into her home even though they aren't related.
"Tinuturing na rin namin siyang ina so siya lang ang nandiyan sa lahat," said Virginia Crisostomo.
Floreta and Virginia, along with the rest of the beneficiaries, received rice, noodles and canned goods.
"Nagpapasalamat kami na dumating pa rin kayo dito sa liblib na lugar namin," Virginia said.
"Salamat, salamat sa inyong tulong," Floreta added.
For those who want to send cash assistance, donations can be made through bank deposits, Cebuana Lhuiller, and PayMaya, or vouchers on Shopee and Zalora.
