Limasawa Island residents appeal for aid after Odette onslaught
Residents in Limasawa Island in Southern Leyte have called for aid after Typhoon Odette struck the island, destroyed their homes, and cut off their power supply.
GMA News' Jonathan Andal reported that aside from having no food and electricity, residents also lamented that they had no access to clean water.
The boats that the residents use for their livelihood were also destroyed.
Residents were also asking for tents as almost all of the houses were either partially or completely damaged.
Transportation to the island, which could be reached via a boat or a ship, had meanwhile become difficult.
The Philippine Coast Guard said donations could be brought to the provincial government of Southern Leyte.
A total 156 people were reported dead, 37 were missing, and 275 were injured due to the onslaught of Typhoon Odette, the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council (NDRRMC) said Tuesday. — DVM, GMA News
