Complaints vs suspects in Cebu student's alleged hazing death to be filed this week —Azurin
Complaints are expected to be filed this week against the suspects in the alleged hazing death of University of Cebu student Ronnel Baguio in December 2022, Philippine National Police (PNP) chief Police General Rodolfo Azurin Jr. said Monday.
“Sa Cebu naman, although the case I think will be filed today or within the week, yung other suspects, perpetrators pinu-pursue pa rin ng ating mga investigators,” he said at a press briefing.
(In Cebu, although I think the case will be filed today or within the week, our investigators are still pursuing other suspects or perpetrators.)
The Public Attorney’s Office said the hazing took place on December 10, 2022 and the victim was rushed to the hospital on December 18, 2022.
Based on his death certificate, he died from Severe Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome Secondary to Indirect Lung Injury, Acute Kidney Injury secondary to Rhabdmyolosis, and Acute Kidney Injury secondary to Rhabdomyolosis.
On Sunday, the Cebu City police identified five suspects who were fraternity officials.
The local police added that they found two witnesses in the course of their investigation, including the fraternity member who supposedly recruited Baguio.
The suspects will be charged with murder and violation of the anti-hazing law. —VAL, GMA Integrated News
