Ambuklao, Binga dams releasing more water amid heavy rains

State weather bureau PAGASA on Wednesday said Ambuklao and Binga Dams in Benguet were releasing more water as heavy rains poured in Luzon areas.

In an update, PAGASA said Ambuklao Dam, with 0.3 meter opening of one gate, was releasing water at 95.19 cubic meters per second (cms), which is higher compared to 92.98 cms on Tuesday.

The water level in Ambuklao Dam was at 751.69 meters, close to its normal high water level at 752 m.

Binga Dam with the same gate opening as Ambuklao was releasing water at 68.08 cms, which is also higher compared to 50.50 cms on Tuesday.

The water level in Binga Dam was at 573.09 m—only a couple of meters away from exceeding its normal high water level at 575 m. 

Meanwhile, the water level in the following dams increased on Wednesday: 

  • Ipo - from 100.48 m to 100.55 m
  • La Mesa - from 79.33 m to 79.36 m
  • San Roque - from 239.21 m to 239.60 m
  • Pantabangan - from 190.98 m to 191.22 m
  • Magat - from 184.30 m to 184.51 m

The Southwest Monsoon or Habagat will continue to bring rains over the country on Wednesday, according to PAGASA's 4 a.m. weather bulletin

Ilocos Region, Batanes, and Babuyan Islands will have occasional rains. Flash floods or landslides are possible due to moderate to heavy rains.

Metro Manila, Central Luzon, Negros Island Region, Zamboanga Peninsula, BARMM, SOCCSKSARGEN, Apayao, Abra, Benguet, Cavite, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, Palawan, Antique, Aklan, and the rest of Cagayan will have cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms.

The rest of the country will likely see partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.—AOL, GMA Integrated News
