SK chair nabbed with P2M shabu in Sara, Iloilo buy-bust

A Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) chairperson was arrested last week with over P2 million of suspected shabu in a buy-bust operation in Sara, Iloilo, the Philippine National Police (PNP) said.

In a statement, the PNP said the anti-narcotics operation was carried out on February 20 by the Sara Municipal Police Station with the 2nd Iloilo Provincial Mobile Force Company after five months of intelligence operations.

Authorities seized 22 medium-sized sachets containing 300 grams of suspected shabu worth P2.04 million from the 26-year-old male SK chairman.

The suspect also yielded 10 grams of suspected marijuana worth P1,000 and buy-bust money.

The suspect will face charges for violating provisions of Republic Act 9165 or the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002 on the sale and possession of illegal drugs, which are punishable with life imprisonment and a P10 million fine.

“Public office is a public trust, and those in leadership must act with integrity,” added PNP chief Police General Jose Melencio Nartatez Jr. — JMA, GMA Integrated News
