A minor strombolian activity was observed at the summit crater of Mayon Volcano late Thursday evening, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

A close-up video footage of the event that occurred at 11:02 p.m. was captured by the Mayon Volcano Observatory and the PHIVOLCS Quick Response Team.

"This event generated plumes that rose approximately 100 meters above the crater before drifting west-southwest," the PHIVOLCS said.

The agency added that Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano and that entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited. — BAP, GMA News
