PCG: 32 rescued from capsized vessel in Surigao del Norte

At least 32 crew members of a passenger vessel were rescued in the vicinity waters of Barangay Corregidor, Dapa, Surigao del Norte on Thursday, the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) reported.

"Based on initial investigation, the distressed vessel capsized and broke into two parts due to rough sea conditions, while en route to Dapa from Claver, Surigao del Norte," the PCG said.

The PCG response teams are in the process of assessing the condition of the passenger vessel and monitoring for the possible marine environmental impact of the incident.

"Interviews with the rescued crew are ongoing to determine the cargo and remaining fuel onboard," the agency added. — BAP, GMA News
