DepEd supervisor shot dead in Zamboanga Sibugay

A Department of Education (DepEd) supervisor was shot dead by unidentified assailants in Alicia, Zamboanga Sibugay on Thursday evening, according to police on Friday.

In a police report, the Zamboanga Sibugay Police Provincial Office said Rey Camaingking at 7:30 p.m. was walking near Guicam Port when the two perpetrators approached and shot him in the head using a .45 caliber firearm.

The assailants reportedly fled the scene on board a black motorcycle and headed toward Barangay Kawayan.

Police requested a Scene of the Crime Operatives (SOCO) team to process the crime scene as part of the ongoing investigation.

Authorities have yet to determine the motive behind the killing.

In a statement, the DepED Schools Division of Zamboanga Sibugay confirmed that the victim was a Public School District Supervisor (PSDS) assigned in Olutanga District.

DepEd Zamboanga Sibugay expressed grief over the loss of Camaingking, describing him as a dedicated leader and public servant.

“We vehemently condemn this act of violence against a member of our educational family. We call upon the authorities for a swift investigation to ensure that justice is served,” it said. — Joviland Rita/BAP, GMA News
