Lava flow, uson, rockfalls observed at Mayon Volcano, says PHIVOLCS
Lava effusion with collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) along Bonga and Mi-isi gullies, minor Strombolian activity observed at the summit crater of Mayon Volcano, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.
The lava effusion and collapse-fed PDCs were recorded at 11:20 p.m. while photos of minor strombolian activity were taken between 10:32 p.m. and 11:03 p.m. on Thursday, May 14, 2026.
"Effusive eruption at Mayon Volcano continues for the 131st consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson”, and rockfalls," PHIVOLCS added.
The agency also said that Alert Level 3 prevails over Mayon and entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone must be prohibited. — BAP, GMA News
