5-year old boy's hand gets caught in Cagayan de Oro mall escalator
A five-year-old boy needed to be rescued after his right hand was caught on an escalator inside a mall in Cagayan de Oro City on Sunday.
“Tumatakbo siya hanggang accidentally, napunta siya sa escalator kaya siya naipit,” Cagayan de Oro City Police Office Spokesperson P/Capt. Emelita Simon said.
(He was running until he accidentally ended up on the escalator, which was how his hand got caught.)
In a report by James Paolo Yap on “24 Oras” on Tuesday, mall staff were able to immediately shut down the escalator, which made it easier for responders to remove the child’s hand.
The boy sustained minor injuries and was brought to the Northern Mindanao Medical Center for treatment
GMA Regional TV One Mindanao is still trying to get a statement from the mall management and the parents of the young victim.
Authorities reminded parents and guardians to make sure their children are properly supervised, especially when in public places, to prevent accidents.
“I-ensure natin ang kanilang safety. Huwag natin pabayaan na mawala sa ating paningin,” Simon said.
