A minor eruption was observed at the summit crater of Mayon Volcano early Friday morning, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) reported.

The minor strombolian activity occurred at 5:59 a.m. while lava effusion with collapse-fed pyroclastic density currents (PDCs) was observed at 09:07 a.m.

"Effusive eruption of Mayon Volcano continues for its 151st consecutive day, generating incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDCs), locally known as "uson," and rockfalls," the PHIVOLCS added.

The agency said Alert Level 3 remains in effect over Mayon Volcano, and entry into the 6-km Permanent Danger Zone is strictly prohibited. — BAP, GMA News
