The effusive eruption of the Mayon Volcano continued for the 1983rd consecutive day, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS-DOST) reported on Sunday.

State volcanologists released sped-up camera footage of lava effusion from the Mayon’s summit crater recorded between 12:00 a.m. to 5:00 a.m. on July 5.

The eruption generated incandescent lava flows, pyroclastic density currents (PDC) or “uson”, and rockfalls.

“Alert Level 3 prevails over Mayon and entry into the 6-kilometer Permanent Danger Zone should be prohibited,” PHIVOLCS said. —RF, GMA News
