Motorcycle passenger dies after being run over by truck

A 56-year-old woman died after she was run over by a truck that hit the motorcycle she and her husband were riding in Davao City on Thursday morning, August 6, 2026.

The incident happened in Barangay Ilang, police said.

Police investigation showed that the couple’s motorcycle and the wing van truck were traveling in the same direction along Maharlika Highway.

When the two vehicles reached an area with heavy traffic, the motorcycle reportedly slowed down but the driver of the truck, which was traveling behind them, reportedly did not notice the change in speed and hit the motorcycle in the back.

The impact threw the woman, who was riding pillion, off the motorcycle and onto the street. She was then run over by the truck.

Her husband, who was driving the motorcycle, is safe.

The truck driver was taken into custody by the Bunawan Police. He is facing a charge of reckless imprudence resulting in homicide. — GMA Regional TV
