6 dead, 1 missing in Calabarzon amid Habagat still being validated — OCD

Six individuals have been reported dead while one is missing in Calabarzon due to the effects of the Southwest Monsoon, the Office of the Civil Defense (OCD) Calabarzon said Monday.

OCD-Calabarzon spokesperson Reyan Marquez said this is still up for validation.

“‘Yung reported na debris falling, rock falling, and then meron tayong electrocution at saka ‘yung pagkalunod,” Marquez said on Unang Balita.

(The reported incidents involved falling debris, falling rocks, electrocution, and drowning.)

Marquez, meanwhile, said light to moderate rains are prevailing over the region.

He said the OCD’s search and rescue operations are ongoing.

“Tuloy-tuloy naman po and ina-ano rin po namin ‘yung kaligtasan ng aming mga rescuers,” he said.

(It is ongoing, and we are also ensuring the safety of our rescuers.)

Marquez said that the most affected areas are Batangas and Cavite.

In a separate interview, Cavite Governor Abeng Remulla said that around 13,000 families or 33,000 individuals have been evacuated in Cavite.

Meanwhile, he said the provincial government continues to distribute relief goods.

“Sa ngayon ho, wala naman tayong problema sa paghahatid ng tulong sa ating mga kababayan dito sa lalawigan ng Cavite. Patuloy lang ho ang distribution namin ng relief goods,” he said.

(For now, we do not have any problems delivering assistance to our fellow Filipinos here in the province of Cavite. We are just continuing our distribution of relief goods.)

According to Remulla, an injury was reported in the province, but this was attributed to a vehicular accident.

He also said there were 17 power interruptions over the weekend, but this was quickly addressed. —AOL, GMA News
