Manila-bound passenger nabbed in Laoag after X-ray finds gun, ammo in luggage

A passenger bound for Manila was arrested at the Laoag International Airport after authorities found a handgun and live ammunition without the necessary documents inside his baggage, the Philippine National Police Aviation Security Group (PNP-AVSEG) said.

Police said airport security detected a .45 caliber Colt firearm, a magazine, and eight live ammunition from the suspect's possessions during a standard X-ray screening.

The security risk items were later confirmed during a physical inspection by the security screening officer.

The PNP-AVSEG said that the suspect is now under the custody of the airport's police station for proper documentation and legal action. —Vince Angelo Ferreras/RF, GMA News
