Magnitude 4.8 earthquake hits offshore Dalupiri Island in Cagayan

A magnitude 4.8 earthquake occurred off the coast of Dalupiri Island in Calayan, Cagayan on Wednesday noon, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.
The earthquake's epicenter was at 19 km northwest of Dalupiri Island, and occurred at 12:22 p.m., according to PHIVOLCS.
Tectonic in origin, the tremor had a depth of 10 km.
Intensity I was felt in Claveria, Cagayan, and in Bacarra, Ilocos Norte. Aftershocks are not expected, said PHIVOLCS.
The earthquake was first reported by PHIVOLCS as having magnitude 5.7, then was downgraded to magnitude 4.8 in an update. —AOL, GMA News
