Riverside house in Occidental Mindoro collapses amid monsoon rains
A house located along a river in Occidental Mindoro collapsed and fell into the water after non-stop rains from the southwest monsoon (habagat).
In a "24 Oras" report from Dano Tingcungco on Wednesday, screams could be heard as the ground slowly gave away beneath the house.
The uploader said the house belonged to their relative, who stayed there for just about two months.
In Santa Cruz, Occidental Mindoro, several residents also had to evacuate after a road dike collapsed.
Meanwhile in Marilao, Bulacan, residents helped each other as the floods rose to their chests. They carried the statue of the Black Nazarene on a boat.
The Marilao River had reached critical levels due to the rain.
In San Marcelino, Zambales, it was also an overflowing river that caused floods, which measured four feet high.
A household in Olongapo City nearly burned down during the rain after the outlet got wet.
An electric fan and a mosquito trap were plugged into the socket.
“By the outlet there was water dropping, so the outlet got wet,” resident Ivy Bautista said. — Jean Mangaluz/BAP, GMA News
