Magnitude 5.3 earthquake strikes off Davao Oriental

A magnitude 5.3 earthquake struck off the coast of Davao Oriental on Saturday afternoon, with aftershocks expected, the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) said.

The earthquake occurred at 2:43 p.m. at a depth of 83 kilometers. Its epicenter was located 84 kilometers southeast of Tarragona, Davao Oriental.

PHIVOLCS recorded Instrumental Intensity I in the following areas:

* Magpet, Cotabato
* Davao City
* Digos City
* Santa Maria, Davao Occidental
* Nabunturan, Davao de Oro
* Kiamba, Sarangani
* Tampakan, South Cotabato
* Tupi, South Cotabato
