Habagat rains will continue to affect Luzon, Visayas on Sunday

The Southwest Monsoon, or Habagat, will continue to bring rains over Luzon and Visayas on Sunday, August 30, 2026, according to PAGASA.

In its 4 p.m. bulletin on Saturday, PAGASA said monsoon rains are expected in Metro Manila, Ilocos Sur, Pangasinan, La Union, Benguet, Bataan, Zambales, Tarlac, Pampanga, Bulacan, Rizal, and Cavite.

THabagat is also expected to bring occasional rains over Ilocos Norte, Abra, Apayao, Kalinga, Ifugao, Mountain Province, Nueva Vizcaya, Nueva Ecija, Laguna, Batangas, Occidental Mindoro, and Oriental Mindoro.

Cloudy skies with scattered rains and thunderstorms are forecast over the rest of Luzon, Western Visayas, and Negros Island Region. The rest of Visayas is expected to experience partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rainshowers or thunderstorms.

Meanwhile, in Mindanao, localized thunderstorms are expected to affect the region, bringing partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms.

As of 2:00 p.m., two low-pressure areas (LPA) are being monitored outside the Philippine Area of Responsibility.

LPA 08i was located 615 km north northeast of Itbayat, Batanes.

The state weather bureau said it has a "low chance" of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Meanwhile, LPA 08j was spotted 1,545 km east of extreme Northern Luzon and has a "high chance" of developing into a tropical depression within the next 24 hours.

Moderate to strong winds and moderate to rough coastal waters are expected in Luzon, with waves running from 1.5 meters to 3.4 meters.

Light to moderate winds and slight to moderate coastal waters are expected in the rest of the country, with waves running from 0.6 meters to 2.1 meters.

At the PAGASA Science Garden weather station in Diliman, Quezon City, the highest temperature recorded on Saturday reached 25.5 degrees Celsius at 9 a.m., while the lowest temperature was logged at 24.0 degrees Celsius at 2 p.m.
